My WTS light comes on when I first put the key in the ignition and crank it over but after one crank it goes off and won't come back on for quite a while...almost like something is cooling off. No fuses are blown and I just replaced the PCM and IDM this past winter. The CPS is new with a new pigtail as well. The truck just cranks and cranks without starting. Could the glow plug relay be the problem? I haven't replaced it but I thought it only deals with the glow plugs in colder weather and didn't think it affected the WTS light. Please help my wife is ready to kill me as this truck is constantly problematic!!
Glow plugs come on (cycle) up to 130* F so they are used even in summer months on a cold engine. In warmer weather WTS light will only come for about 1 second however glow plugs will remain ON for about 30 seconds or so, on a cold engine. I always wait an extra 10-15 seconds after the WTS light goes off before cranking and it fires right up.
Are you saying on initial start the WTS light cycles OK then you crank, then turn the key completely OFF then back on but now the WTS light does not cycle? Can you hear the GPR click when first turning the key ON, cold engine? Did this just happen or did it get progressively worse over time? Any smoke while cranking?
