Another 4 Wheel Drive Problem?
I've got a 2005 super duty and read several posts about issues with the vacuum hubs. I'm experiencing this problem and wanted to get some opinions. Here's what I've determined based on guidance from previous posts:
1. 4x4 light comes on, transfer case engages, and only get 4 wheel drive if i manually engage the hubs.
2. AC system properly changes between all functions (panel, floor, defrost, etc).
3. Tested voltage at the wiring harness going into the vacuum solonoid and it has 12V on center conductor. Left conductor goes to ground for ~45sec when engaging and goes to ground ~15sec when disengaging.
4. Plugged one side at the hub and placed a gage on the other hub inlet. Engaged the 4 wheel drive and got no response on the gage when engaging or disengaging. The pump runs for a long time when engaging 4 wheel drive but eventually stops and nothing is ever seen on the gage.
Sounds like a vacuum solenoid issue, but wanted to get some opinions. Going to get a vacuum pump and check the hubs tomorow, so I should confirm the hubs are OK tomorow.
Any advice would be appreciated. Thanks again!
