Have a 95 F350 4x4 5.8 and E4OD. Had a CEL for a couple months and finally got around to pulling codes on it. Got a CM and KOER code 332 (EGR valve opening not detected) and CM code 176 (HEGO sensor circuit indicates system lean (left side)). The EVP sensor checked out good and the EGR valve moves like it should with a hand vacuum pump on it. If there was a vacuum leak in the EGR vacuum circuit would it cause both of these codes? Does anyone know how to check the valve that controls the vacuum to the EGR valve? If there is no vacuum leak I would guess that might be the cause of the EGR valve not working right. Also, is the left side the default because there is only one O2 sensor and I am not sure how it can tell if it is lean on the left or right side?
With your hand vac pump did you have a vac gauge attached to it? The EVP seal can leak vacuum which would throw could throw that code 332. Make sure the vac that you apply holds. Or just to be on the save side tighten the EVP sensor down a lil more.
Also I'd go ahead and check your KOEO codes too.
To check the solenoid that applies vac to the EGR valve, hook a vac gauge too it (just hook where the it should attach to the EGR valve) and run the truck and slowly open the throttle wider and wider. You should slowly see the vac gauge rise. Should not operate at idle or WOT.
If something's different tell me, cause I'm going off of how my truck operates. Hope this helps though
