4.6 Oil pan gasket & fuel filter

Sure has been a while since I have logged in, I do lurk a lot though.

I have an 04 expedition with the 4.6 with an oil pan that is leaking like a mother, in addition to the oil filter adapter seal.

Taking a quick glance underneath tonight there is a crossmember that runs from the LT to RT lower control arm support. It obviously has to come off to drop the pan.

When I remove do I need to further support the lower control arms any other than lifting the vehicle and placing the front end on jack stands?

Also a stupid question. Maybe I overlooked it, but where is the fuel filter? I looked on the drivers side inside frame rail and did not see a filter. Are they in the tank like on the new GM SUV's? The tank on this thing is huge, is it possible that it is located above the tank?

Many thanks

I don't know about the 4.6 trucks but my 5.4 has a inline fuel filter. As far as supporting the control arms, I'm not sure, sorry.
