Brakes
Driving my 86 f 150 todat the brake pedal went to the floor. No signs of fluid leaking. Topped of the master cylinder and drove 5 miles with low to the floor pedal. Back brakes would lock up to slow me down.
Fluid stays up and no immediate signs of leaks in the lines or around wheels or master cylinder.
Never had a master cylinder or booster go bad. Could they be the problem?
Pedal goes to the floor. Driving home was pretty stupid.

Same thing happened to me when my master cylinder went out. Parts are cheap but bleeding the system can be a problem if you haven't done it on your truck yet. Bleeder screws have a tendency to not co-operate with the effort!

No the master was about 1/2 inch from the top, but added some hoping to gain pedal. Fluid does look bad but its a neglected work truck. I was haulin 2700 lbs of water logged 4x8 styrofoam to landfill. Has to disconnect from trailer and limp home

try bleeding them first. If your by yourself you can air bleed them. Start from the back passenger side wheel and open up the bleeder screw and let drip for ten minutes or so. Continue to do the same thing to every wheel thats furthest away from master cylinder.

Thanks for the help guys. A $15.00 master cylinder from Auto Zone and I am on the road again and stopping.
Probably should bleed the system this weekend but bench bleeding the master and hooking it up worked for now.
