help please !!!! 2001 v10
hey guys .
i'm new here , just registered to get some help for a buddy .
he has a 2001 350 v10 rv , and has recently relocated it from florida to arizona with no problems .
he tells me that it is fine for the first few miles of a journey , but then it loses power . it also looses power if it has to climb an incline in the road.
he has likened it to fuel vapourisation and thinks the fuel-line is too close to the catalytic converter .
but i just crawled uinder it and the fuel lines are not really that close to the header down-pipe , and that is shielded anyway !!!!
the fuel filter looks to be old (surface rust on it) so i told him to get that replaced .
any other things i should check for him ??
i know nothing about these trucks , but he's a retired guy so i'll help all i can .
he;s planning on driving from phoenix to vegas in 2 weeks , and he's worried about breaking down .

we will get that done asap ,
but the thing is , he and his wife are both elderly (70+) and allthough he is a little vague on the details it seems the problem only appears a few miles into a journey and he doesnt want to be stranded in the heat , and i'd like to be able to assure him it's fixed before he sets off (rather than hoping its fixed before he sets off and keeping my fingers crossed for 5 hours )
i just watched him start it for the first time in about 4 months ... leaned in turned key and a second later it was idling just fine

i'm just looking on the autozone website (a store within 1/4mile) and i have found the fuel filter for $10
but i'm also seeing a fuel filter cap that doesnt rersemble anything i just saw under his van . what exactly is this part ?
there is also a strainer that i need to know about .
