has anyone converted their on board air compressor (for suspension) into a compressor that can be used to air up tires?
this would of course be after the air ride was converted to standard suspension.

These compressors have enough power to explode your tire. It just wouldn't do it real quick. They will put out about 250 pounds of pressure. I would and have considered putting a small air tank and a regulator somewhere to be able to have an air supply for the train horns I intend to install.

Why? You could still do it with an active air suspension. The truck might lower while you're using the compressor for something else, but as soon as you stop using it, the suspension would return to normal.
the only reason i say it would be after it was converted is i am in the process of converting mine, and i have no reason to keep the airride.
i was hoping someone on here had done this before so i could have some instructions, but i may just have to experiment myself.
I believe all you would need would be an air tank and pressure on/pressure off switch from W.W. Grainger and wire it into the compressor. Whatever tank you use should be hydrostatic tested to about double the operating pressure you will want to hold. I was thinking about a small oxy/acetelyne bottle. The next problem is where to mount it.
