Sounds like something wrong with your computer. Back in the 80's, cars used to have knocking (dieseling) using regular unleaded. Lead in gasoline was an anti-knocking agent.
Cars today use computers to adjust timing, etc. to prevent knocking.

I'll third that! You definitely need to pull a plug (or 10) to check them. My guess is that they are well worn.
If not, there is a knock sensor below the intake manifold that could be bad.

And just in case you didn't know, after you remove the COP and boot, blowout the plug chamber with compressed air before removing the plug.

Yes. Make sure and blow out those holes. You'll be suprised how much crap gets built up in them, and you don't that stuff falling down in the cylinders.

Howdy!
Please excuse me if this is a dumb question (I'm still learning)... when you saying you hear pinging... Are you talking about pinging/nose coming from underneath the truck?
I ask because I've always noticed, since I got my X, that after a good long run, I hear pinging sound coming from underneath the truck from what I assume to be the Exhaust pipes. Is that normal?

Sometimes you can get a rattling sound at a particular RPM that emanates from a loose heat shield on the exhaust pipe. Is your sound after you turn it off?
The rattling the OP (Original Poster) describe sounds like spark knock (pinging) since it goes away with higher octane fuel.

I'd descbibe the sound more like.... little rocks hitting my exhuast piping...if that makes sense? The sound is definitely underneath the truck itself! I haven't tried using a higher ocatne gas. Makes me curious to see if it makes the sound go away!

Yeah, I think you are fine. That is just the exhaust pipes/shields cooling off at different rates.
