So i replaced front and rear brakes, shims, springs, clips, ect anything and eveything that i could replace i did. shortly after i got a slight vibration between 55 and 65 happened for 3 day then went away, came back for about a mile 2 weeks later now gone, also 2 weeks ago i hit the brakes comming off the freeway truck shook like it was gunna fall apart kinda the same feeling like when the front end is shot, did it once then went away then happened today one and drove around the rest of the day with no issues. im at aloss i have gone over every thing 3 times, the only thing i can guess is my driver rear axle seal is leaking so i figured axle fluid on the pads could cause the shutter but why not all the time. thanks for the help
Well, brakes do not repair themselves, so since the problem is intermittent, and you don't have a loose wheel, warped Chinese rotor, loose caliper, or low fluid pressure, it might not even be brakes.
No CEL ? The symptoms sound more like issues with up/down shifting, or torque convertor.
CEL? no brakes dont fix them selves, like i said i will feel the high speed vibe then if i go to brake i get the crazy shakes, if i let go of the brake the shake goes away, push the brake again it shakes till i stop, after i take off i can stop normaly again till the next random time, my trans seems the same i cant tell any difference, and maybe its in my head but it seems like if i really focus on the shakes it kinda feels like its pulling from the rear but maybe its in my head, thanks for the help since clearly your the only one that feels like they may have an idea, 1 helper and 1k viewers thanks again
O and i put no cheap parts on my truck its all EBC pads, shoes, rotors and drums, i wanted the best of the best plus dont wanna mess around with the parts that do the most important thing..STOP
I assume you have rear drum brakes by your last post. Is it possible you've reversed the brake shoes by mistake? Short shoe lining faces front of vehicle, shoe with longer lining to the rear.
Usually the 4 shoe webs are identical and the manufacturer adds 2 short linings and 2 longer linings to the webs sold in the box. It's possible to reverse the shoes or even use 2 shoes with short linings on one side and 2 with long linings on the other. Any combination other than short to front/ long to rear will cause chatter, sticking and possible overheating of the brake drum.
that makes sense, before i started i took off the old pads set them down and then set down the new ones below them so make sure i had the correct ones, but i will give them a look over today
sorry forgot to respond, i checked the rear brakes and they were correct, but my neighbor whos an old school mechanic( i always give him crap that fuel injection must have been a big shock when it came out) and he said to add a marine grease on the front pads were they sit, so i did and i havent had a single issue so i wonder if the front pad wasnt touching 100%. dont makes sense but no more issues
