HELP!!!! In Dec. we had a 15" snow and I used my truck to pull out some cars. At the time I started this, the only gears that I could get it in was P. R. N. D. It would not go into 2nd or 1st, C6 tranny. About a month later I was going to see if I could find out what was wrong with it and I could not get it out of Park. I think that my straeing col. is missed up. The linkage is not bend or binding from the col. to the tranny. By the way, my nuteral starting switch has been screwed up for about 6 mos. I just used a bypass on it, as I am the only one that ever drives it. Thanking anyone for any help in advance.
Sorry 'bout that. I have a '84 F-150 w/351HO and a C6, 9" rear end w/tork lock & 4.11 gears. I think that it is hung up inside the col. somewhway. Any help would really be nice. Thanks!
Tried looking it up, but could not find out anything that I didn't already know. I have unhooked the linkage from the col. and the tranny shifts fine. The shifter in the col. WILL NOT Move!! Please, there has to be someone else out there that has hadthis happen to them. Thanks again.
Pull the dash panel from below the steering column and observe the 3/16" di. rod going to the ignition switch on the R side of the column above the pedals. Does it move as you turn the key?
What about the shift lever itself - you have to pull it toward you before you shift it, right? Will it move back but not rotate, or does it NOT pull back either?
There's not much I can tell you - I've disassembled a few columns, but only the manual ones (no shifter). It's a fairly straightforward task to take it apart, but takes some time, effort, patience, tools, and ingenuity (especially on tilts!).
