Has any one installed the Borla dual exhaust for a PSD? I'm still trying to decide which exhaust system Banks, Borla, flowmaster. I will replace the downpipe, but want a good sounding, economy improving system.
Any thoughts, I have been through the other exhaust threads but don't recall anything about the Borla system for diesels.
I don't know what model year your truck is, but for the pre-99's, Banks doesn't recommend a change from the stock muffler until you get to the "top of the line" kit. Flowmaster's design is not a straight through muffler, so I wouldn't expect it to be much less restrictive than stock for a SuperDuty, and it would be more restricitive than the stock muffler on a pre-99, since those were straight through. If you want minimum restriction, go to a larger diameter pipe, and get a straight through muffler. Donaldson makes a 4" straight through muffler for about $65.
Assuming the stock muffler on an Excursion is the same as on a SuperDuty pickup, your stock muffler isn't a straight through desing, so a Flowmaster would probably be an improvement, but not as much as going to something straight through would be.
Thanks again and yes so far most of the parts with the exception of interior have been stock 250/350.
I have talked to the Banks folks and they have a replacement exhaust specificfor this vehicle. When I saw the Borla system is looked intereseting, but I think I'll do a bit more looking before I tackle the exhaust.
