I remember reading a post on here once about how its done, and what all i need, but cannot find anything, and i have been searching for an hour!! If anyone can please help me out i would love to get a list of what i need and the write up on how it was done, but cannot find it.
thanks again for any help that can be offered!!

on a side note i just changed all my plugs and COPS on my car! thanks to all your help on here. took about 3 hours and it runs GREAT! so thanks for that too! you guys rock!

Why would you want to do that? Most people that have them are frustrated with them because map updates are $200.

I was thinking i would like the convenience of having an in dash unit, so i did not have to have my garmin on my dash all the time.
Any help with the info needed to install one??
Thanks

I have no idea, but of it was an option, can't you just install one?

The factory navigation system is an integrated unit that has a different wiring harness than those with other OEM systems. I suggest that you look at some of the very nice systems offered by a local shop that enjoys a good reputation. Have them do the install, it's worth the money. You can even get the one with DVD player built in, I believe.

Has anyone added a factory nav system? Moto Mel points out a change in the harness, but can it be spliced in to work? I would assume the only difference would be te speed sensing wire. And maybe some pin locations. Any more thoughts such as factory gos antenna?

I had the 6 disc CD changer in-dash in my 03 Nav, but quickly swapped it out with my Pioneer x910bt (5.8" LCD, DVD Bluetooth, SD card, etc) after I couldn't get any discs to read on the stock unit. I also picked up a swi-pac unit off Amazon which gave me back the volume/media/next track steering wheel controls. I'd for go the older antiquated DVD based Nav unit and go with an aftermarket hard drive based unit.
