Posted some time ago about my truck acting crazy and discovered one connector on the fusebox had melted and was and still to some extent causing odd problems.
Truck wrecking yuard close to me has a couple of 02's and will sell me the fusebox.
BUT how close a match does the truck have to be? His truck has everything mine does except heated power leather seats. Will it work?
Thanks for any help.
I've never seen any evidence that Ford used different fuse panels for trucks with different features. Even the gas/diesel fuse panels appear to be the same.
You could take your fuse panel with you, if that's possible, and compare the two.
They certainly did use different fuse panels for different years, however.
My 2001 XL did not have all the lugs inside the fuse box to allow fuses for things like power windows or remote entry. Ford changed the fuse boxes in 2002 and I don't know what that design looks like.
Just a real late update on my fusebox problems
The fusebox I am talking about got replaced and a year later it burnt at the same place. Ran it for a while until it went up in smoke going thru a burger joint drivethru. LOL
Needed the truck so did a nasty wiring job on the fusebox going around the burnt connectors. Last spring I got another fusebox, seems a 2002 fusebox is a 2002 fusebox. The one I got was months older and worked fine with the exception of no underhood light wire. Everything else worked but I assume since the box was so bare it came from a very plain truck but verything else works great in my Lariat.
My neighbor and I did some troubleshooting and thought the ground wire going to the plug that always burns up might be the problem. Teed into that wire and put a wire to a good ground and have not had a moments trouble since. Problem always seemed to happen towing and I was all over creation last year racing.
I know which ground point it is and it is buried way under the dash so left it. The assembly line worker must have been having a bad day and did not get the ground right it seems.
