Good night guys. Sorry I bailed, but had to go look at my nieces car.
Looking for advice. No codes. It is a 98 Olds Achevia 3.1 V6.
She went to start it today at home and it started and died. I went and tried it tonight. It starts and idles for 2-5 seconds than dies. It will start immediately back up for a couple seconds than die and will keep doing the same. I tried pumping the gas and nothing. You try to rev it up immediately it dies. I pulled the fuel filter and the fuel pump seems to work good. I can not hold my finger over the end while it is cranking. Seems like good flow out exhaust. Checked fuses, all good.
Had to work fours hours extra yesterday and came in this AM @ 0300. Its gonna be a long day! But the OT will be nice for the pocket book. Hope everyone has a good day!
Hi guys just got back from the ER. I got a piece of steel in my eye. It wasn't bad more irritating than anything else. Prob would have come out on its own but I have a ton of welding to do tommorrow and no time to waste.
Hope the Twins win, I think the Vikings ship is going down.
Dang. I'm glad it's alright. I got a little chip in my eye once, over the saftey glasses. Luckily, I was able to dab it out and didn't blink while it was in there. No damage.
Good morning everybody! It's Thursday, 1 more to go!!
Lee, there are a slew of things. First thing is passlock. Make sure the security light isn't on or blinking on the dash. If it is, there is a way to reprogram it.
Otherwise, the next couple options are coil pack, ignition control module, or injector issue.
Cory, just think though you get the whole weekend off and you get to spend it with us!! Lucky you........!! That should help make your long day seem a little shorter! LOL

Any thoughts?
Hey Lee it looks like Dave gave you some possibilites. I do know one thing and that is I haul alot of cars into shops with that same exact symptom. I hauled one in this week infact. So whatever it is I am guessing is fairly common. Sorry not much comfort there I guess. Good luck!
Thanks for the advice Dave. I was thinking coil packs, but it is wierd it was fine before she shut it off the day before.
Good morning Lee!!
Of course you know how that goes Lee...everything is great one minute and the next minute simple math can even be a problem!!

Good morning Jay!!
Well I just had to go get a car and the lady tells me it won't start and needs it towed. What she neglects to tell me was that there was also two flat tires on this car front and rear! Good thing I had my rollback with or I would have been a little upset considering it was 20 miles from the shop! Funny how people don't think that stuff like that might help a guy to know ahead of time!! Ok done venting.
