I'll be there. I'm leaving the camping trip Saturday morning. Since my friend has to work on Saturday, I don't feel like staying with a bunch of people I barely know.
We went shootin today down in Busik. My 22 is still dead on, my 45 did ok but with the sun in my eyes all Afternoon, I couldn't see my laser. My SKS needs to be zeroed in again, I couldn't hit the broad side of a barn with it today. I guess I'm gonna have to see what it cost to shoot at the new gun store in Ozark.

I'm calling BS on this one Rich. I haven't heard a thing about this and I work with a fellow that would have been having rabid kittens if it were true. Besides, just how do they plan on enforcing this? Are they planning on coming into your house and checking for undeclared weapons?

Here is what I got from a good source, I am just asking what else anyone else has heard.
I hope and pray its BS to shake up the gun market.
Senate Bill SB-2099 will require us to put on our 2010 1040 federal tax form all guns that you have or own. It will require fingerprints and a tax of $50 per gun. This bill was introduced on February 24, 2009, by the Obama staff. BUT, this bill will only become public knowledge 30 days after the new law becomes effective! This is an amendment to the Internal Revenue Act of 1986. This means that the Finance Committee has passed this without the Senate voting on it at all.
The full text of the IRS amendment is on the U.S. Senate homepage: U.S. Senate. You can find the bill by doing a search by the bill number, SB-2099.
Text of H.R.45 as Introduced in House: Blair Holt's Firearm Licensing and Record of Sale Act of 2010: Text of H.R.45 as Introduced in House: Blair Holt's Firearm Licensing and Record of Sale Act of 2009 - U.S.... OpenCongress
New bill HR 45 introduced into the House, Blair Holt Firearm Licensing & Record of Sale Act of 2010.
Even gun shop owners didn't know about this because the government is trying to fly it under the radar as a 'minor' IRS revision.
To find out about this - go to any government website and type in HR 45 or Goggle HR 45 Blair Holt Firearm Licensing & Record of Sales Act of 2010.
Basically this would make it illegal to own a firearm - any rifle with a clip or ANY pistol unless: 1) It is registered 2) You are fingerprinted 3) You supply a current Driver's License 4) You supply your Social Security number 5) You will submit to a physical & mental evaluation at any time of their choosing. Each update change or ownership through private or public sale must be reported and costs $25. Failure to do so you automatically lose the right to own a firearm and are subject up to a year in jail.
There is a child provision clause on page 16 section 305 stating a child-access provision. Gun must be locked and inaccessible to any child under 18. They would have the right to come and inspect that you are storing your gun safely away from accessibility to children and fine is punishable for up to 5 years in prison.
If you think this is a joke - go to the website and take your pick of many options to read this.. It is long and lengthy.

From what I was able to find you will not have to report your guns on your taxes. This bill in in committee and will have to be voted on by congress to pass, it would be an amendment to the Brady Handgun Violence Prevention Act. It looks like it would require states to create a firearms license that you would have to obtain to own a gun. It also requires a whole lot of info concerning gun violence, gun production, sales, and ownership to be gathered and tracked.
This bill is not a good thing, but is not as bad as some are making it out to be. I am surprised that the Dems would attempt a bill like this so close to an election. This is exactly the ammo Reps need to get people to to the poles that will vote for them. The only way this thing will make it out of committee is if the Dems hold onto their majorities in congress.
I have mixed feelings about any new gun laws. I am a gun owner, and a firm believer in the 2nd Amendment. However I see a lot of people out there that have no business owning a gun, but they've got them anyway.
I just read a story about the Remington model 700 and a dangerous defect it has had since day one of production back in the '40's. The gun can discharge without anyone even touching the trigger, this has resulted in hundreds of injuries and deaths over the years. Remington's defense is that if gun safety rules had been followed no one would ever be accidentally injured by guns. While this is a cop out, it is also true as the first rule of gun safety is never point a gun at anything you are not prepared to destroy.

This bill is as good as dead in the water. The only Congressional action that has been taken on it is a referral to committee almost a year ago. It may come up later in the session (after the election), but it is a long, long way from being law. It will have to move out of committee with a "do pass" approval and then be debated on the House floor before being approved by the House. It will be then sent to the Senate, where it will once again be sent to committee. The Senate will then make their version of the bill and then it will have to be approved by the full Senate. The two versions of the bill will then have to have differences worked out and then approved again by both houses before being sent to the President. The entire time this is going on, political lobbyists and action groups will be having a hey-day with it that will further slow progress down.
It's going to take a miracle if this makes it all the way through the system before time to file your 2011 taxes if not 2012.
Here's a couple more links on this subject:
