Shackle Reversal

I have a 78 F250 4x4 with a 460 4-speed I lifted it 4 inchs with front springs and blocks in the rear but i got bad axlewrap so i was going to make a shackle reversal kit for the rear and lose some blocks i'm also going to use 2 inch traction lifts front and rear but want to get some input on the shackle kit (pros and cons) before i do it i have seen this done on jeep but not so much on the big boys .
thanks

Shackle Reversal

I have a 71'4x4 and did a shackle flip. I did it because I put a 4" lift in and was getting axle wrap due to those darn blocks. I did my own kit. I took front spring perches off another truck and took my smaller rear perches off and switched them and then flipped the shackle. I gave it a 5" lift in rear with no blocks. This completely eliminated the axlewrap and made my ride more positive. I am putting a 460 in my truck this year and one ton running gear. I am running mud bogs and this half ton stuff is fine but now I am ready to move up. I am going to lift it next year for larger tires and am going to use springs out of a highboy and can gain as much as 8 " of lift.Hope this helps.
