clutch linkage

I'm not real sure how to ask this question. I'm getting ready to put in a new clutch mc and clutch pedal lever to the mc pushrod. I'm not real sure how to install the lever that connects to the pushrod. I took the clutch/brake bracket out to get the old one off but now the bracket is back in the truck w/o the lever.
The mc pushrod is adjustable. Should the pushrod be at its shortest length with the pedal all the way out when the lever is mounted OR should it be somewhere different? 1987 F150.

With an adjustable pushrod, extend it halfway then torque down the splined arm that the pushrod connects to. That way, you can shorten the rod if the clutch wears, or lengthen it if the pressure plate wears. BTW how did you make that adjustable rod? mine is half an OEM rod and half a 5/16 bar joined by a pipe hanger nut.

You want the end of the pushrod touching, but not pushing against, the MC piston when you do this btw. If you ask me the pedal brackets are one of the parts that is aluminum and shouldn't be.

732t37,
Thanks for the info. This is the first time I've done this so I'm learning as I go. The pushrod is a 2 piece. It came with the mc from NAPA.

Good luck with the new MC. Almost every time I've tried to get parts for the 91's hydraulic clutch, the guy at the counter said "I won't touch those". If you go to replace the slave, do yourself a favor and replace the quick connect with the slow connect from the MC end of the old hydraulic line- My QC was replaced by a previous owner and blew up inside the bellhousing twice before I finally dropped the trans for the third time and fixed it for good. Let us know how it goes man.

i dont see any difficulty with this clutch system unless its the internal slave cylinder mines external thank god. Other than that bleeding is a pain but is to be expected. There just always seems to be one more air bubble doesn't there.
