Do you have a gas line running under or near the site. A natural gas leak will kill grass.

i agree. i bet it has something to do with drinking too much of the wrong stuff, and using "the outdoor facilities".

Fungi have cycles of growth similar to plants that are linked to temperature and moisture changes. Disrupting that cycle COULD eliminate the issue.

Something is in the ground that is affecting the roots.
Since grass roots can go as far as eighteen inches down - but fluids can spread out a long way - it may be just about anything.

What I would do is call before digging, and drive a shovel down into it to find whatever it is.

Your grass is responding to something down there...

For all I know you might find an antique motorcycle
