I replaced the spark plugs around 30K ago and did not change out the boots. First mistake. I then learned they needed replacing also. So I changed the boots out around 25K ago. Since then I have replaced the boots on at least two plugs again. I keep getting water past the boots and onto the spark plugs. Which then start to miss while in overdrive and going up any grade. There is no miss while driving around town unless the truck is in overdrive. I can't figure out why the water is getting past the boots. I use die electric greese but still after about a year the miss comes back because of the water. Any "How To" on the boot replacement, it seems so simple. What could I be doing wrong?
It might not be your replacement skills that are in question, but rather the quality of the boots. Where are you getting them? Have you tried the dealer OEM ones?
I agree with "alloro", if you are using aftermarket boots the fit might not be as tight as it would be as a factory boot. If the problem continues I would just replace all the boots with factory boots.
