I has thinkin about cuttin both my cats off and drillin a hole in my exhaust and weldin a nut for my O2 senser would this work and what would it sound like i will also have a 24in glasspack with 4x24 inch tip just single pipe though
I think removing the cats would mess up some of the info your computer gets from the 02 sensor. Try removing just the muffler and using straight pipe. My friend did this on his 95 F-150 w/300, and it sounded pretty good. I don't know about the computer for sure, but I had plenty of people tell me not to remove the cats on my old 95 F-150 becuase of the computer. Here is a wild guess as to why. upon startup, the comp. makes your truck run rich to heat up the cat. When it reaches operating temp, it leans out. With out the cat, it may cause your truck to run rich all the time. This is just a guess, I have no real evidence to back this up, and am not pretending to know everything. If someone else knows I would like to find out as well.
Hey thanks for that info, I aint tryin to cause a fight but if it didnt have cats it would think that it is already warm right(maybe wrong more then likely) but I still would like some feed back

Sorry if that came off a bit rude, I just didn't want anyone to think what I was saying was 100% correct, cuz Iam not sure. I also think there is a temp sensor in the cat, that lets the comp. know when it is warm. I do know, that with the 2 cats on there, one is a pre-cat which is used until the other cat reaches operating temp. I just hope someone who knows more than me can shed some more light on this subject.
the O2 sensors, last i heard, were before the cat, so the original idea would work. i havent heard any horror stories about it either, so take that as a sign. it should also sound pretty good too, cats really quite down the 300, and that pack will make it sound really throaty with those big tips. this is espically true on a pre-87 truck, as the comp there dont really do too much if youre getting rid of emmisions junk........
