Hi everyone, I am attempting to replace my heater core and I have gotten stuck. I own a 2000 PSD CC, XLT and here's my story.
I started by looking up any heater core info and I was not able to find any picture type write ups but I did find the main write up which seemed fine. I first went to disconnect the heater hose clips at the firewall but it did nothing but punish me. I finally got pissed and cut the hoses off because they were old and it would make me replace them (something I kept putting off). I put a splice on them and now time is not a huge factor in getting this done. I then went to the cab and removed the glove box, heater core cover, door actuator and any visible screws that I could find. The core was right there but it was being held back by the tempature vent actuator thingy on top. I removed the screw that held it on the front of it but it must have something else that I missed because it doesn't want to move. The core can move around but is blocked by the tempature thingy. I also was wondering if there are any tools/tricks to get off those stubburn clips. I am going to order the core and new hoses from someone trustworthy? any help on this is greatly appreciated....Don
Yah I saw those but for some reason I was not able to remove the item on top of the heater core housing. I am clearly missing something. I will give it a try tomarrow ( Thursday) sometime you have get away from it to understand it if you know what I mean. I will post my results, good or bad.......Don
or to avoid taking a saw zaw to it. But good thinking, take a break, take a breath, beat it up later or after you get an idea as to what the problem is. Maybe someone put a zip tie up in there, dunno.
