Single battery

What needs to be done to runa single battery? Also what does the mod do that you run a wire from the starter to the battery?

Why would you only want to run just one battery.

These engines takes a lot of amps to crank them in the winter with the glow plugs on at the same time. I would think it would work as long as the battery is always at full charge, but I don't think I would try this.

Let us know how it works out.

The wire from the alternator directly to the battery insures that the batteries stays more fully charged by eliminating the small losses in the stock wiring.

Your over-all battery life should see some improvement.

If we did this mod with both batteries would it improve the life?

I wanted to run one battery to get rid of the one on the driver side for more room for the air filter. What gauge wire should be used 12guage? I also thought of moving the battery behind where the filter is now but would I need to make all new cables or is it a good idea to splice the cables to make them longer?

Unless the splice you use is soldered I think it will give you trouble overtime. Crimped or clamped battery cables just dont seem to hold up.
