Got another one...
This thing has been haunting me all summer, it was on craigslist for about 3 months as a complete running truck, starting at around $1000, and worked its way down to like $600. The hitch was, there was no title. I have one truck with a bad title, didn't need another... it was fairly clean, and with a 460... but not worth it to me.
A couple months after it stopped being listed, another one identical, but with no bed or engine appeared for sale. Hmmm. Same truck me thinks... . Cheaper, but nope, still no title, not worth the hassle....
Week or so later, and, Bang! re-listed, this time with the title... figured the guy got it appraised, surety bonded and titled(only way local DMV will do it for no proof of ownership)
So, I shot the guy an e-mail and got in line, found out I was the 3rd guy in line to look at it... Didn't hear back for a couple days after guy one was soposed to look at it. Oh well. musta missed out.
Got a message 3 days later(Sunday afternoon) that he still had it and i could come look any evening.
I went and bought it tonight!
Its all the parts I need to build together with my 76 and make a fairly straight truck... Dent free doors, IMACULATE glass(thats something amazing for here-- gravel roads and extreme temp changes make for lots of cracked windows) straight fenders/hood/grill shell... pretty good grill in my prefered style. A little rust in the normal places, but a lot less than the other one i have. All for $150.
Gonna be in about $250 though after the trailer and gas, but its a steal for the pannels I need, and i can mix and match onto this cab/chassis and register it instead of the go-round to get the other one titled.

Yes, I'm blathering on, and yes, I'm stoked!
The kicker turns out to be, it was the same truck, but this guy didn't bond it to get the title... He was using one of the service manuals that he got with it, and came across the title stuffed in as a bookmark!

Guess i shoulda bought it originally, and had a complete running titled truck... but, cas-sara, sara, ya never know, and all that jazz... Funny the way things work out though.

All I gotta do is go tow/trailer it the ten miles home this Saturday....
G.
