Looking to buy a 3 month used fully built bts tranny from a friend. still is under warranty. he paid 4300 for it, and i offered 1000, my orginal 4r100 with 124000 miles on it and a stock used turbo. is this a good deal or am i getting my hopes up?

If it's a true BTS build and only 3 months old, you are more than fine buying it. My tranny is nearly 3 1/2 years old and it still drives like the day I got it.
