Alright i have a 2000 F350 with like 97K miles on it. Now just since the past few days it began making this odd noise. But it only makes the noise when im stopped and holding the brake down. As soon as i let off the brake the sound goes away almost 100% and as soon as i get moving its gone completely. Im guessing it has a someting to do with my braking system or something. The sound isnt high pitched, more low pitched not really sure how to explain how it sounds though, but its deffinatly loud. When im driving and im coming to a stop and i press the brake the at first, i can feel the pedal "pop" within the first like inch i press it down. Im wondering if it has to do with the brake fluid, because when i looked over by my engine, i noticed a oilly substance leaking some down my front shocks and side, my brake level fluid isnt low, but could the lines not be running it to the brakes or what? but again i have no idea if it is my brakes or not.
The fluid you observe could be ATF, and the pop you hear could be the ATF pushing out the breather hole on your power steering fluid reservior cap. There could be a problem with your power steering system. Hydroboost system, like gearloose1 said.
also sorry again for another question but, can anyone describe the sound im hearing so see if it compares to waht i am hearing? i cant figure out how to describe it so hopefully someone elses description can match up to what i hear in my head haha.
yeah ima go check in a little bit, truck is parked across campus ha.
the sound is like....real low pitched, pretty loud, and sounds almost as like a real small pressure washer engine running....best thing that comes to mind
