carb help
my 87 f 250, when its warmin up it tends to stall only when its at a certain temp, never below or above this temp, and only when i fire it up for the first time of the day
its a 351 auto, any idea off what can be done to solve this problem

Can you give us some more details please....when exactly it does it, how warm is the engine, does outside temperature make a difference? Humidity? Previous repairs? Everything stock including air cleaner?

like i said it in the morning and i live in vancouver, so its about 0-10 degrees celcious out side, its stall when the engine temp is just shy of being de center of thermometer
i only bought the truck about 3 weeks ago used so i'm no entirely sure about previous maintenence, but it did not show up as a problem when it was checked over mechanic

The first thing that comes to mind is the hot air door on the air cleaner "snorkel". When the engine is warming up the door closes and heated air comes in from around the exhaust manifold, through the flex tube to the air cleaner. If this isnt working properly the carb can ice up and the most common symptom of that is stalling and running very rich when the engine is between cold and hot. The door is operated by vacuum on the hot air door motor. The motor is the round piece (about umm 3" around and 1" thick) on the air cleaner snorkel. If you remove the hose on the motor and apply vacuum to it you should be able to see the air door close inside the snorkel. If it wont hold vacuum or doesnt close it will need to be replaced.
