Does anyone know where I could get an installation kit to mount a unity spot light on the cab roof? I've look all over ebay and other places on the net, but the only place that had them wanted $50 for them! The light is #325A.
Your local police outfitter would be my first thought, but they don't typically like dealing outsiders. It might still be worth checking police stores such as Galls and Chiefsupply.
Well, I couldn't find it any cheaper anywhere, so I finally just broke down and bought it from unity. Part number 2874. It turned out to be $55.57 total (including shipping) It seems that brackets to put it on a flat surface aren't as common as I thought, most of them are for door or post mount.
Yeah, I can see how water seal could be an issue, I'll just have to make sure it gets sealed up nice and good, especially around here, its getting into the wet winter season.
I can definitely get some pictures when I get it on, it might be a while though.
I got it installed! Unfortunately, the shop camera's batteries were dead, and I didn't have any to replace them with, so I don't have any pictures.... sorry.
If you do decide to buy a kit from Unity, I think it's money very well spent, the stuff is excellent quality, the shipping is fast and the kit includes everything you will need (except fuse and wire) I was impressed with all that was included in the kit as well, they even had a rubber grommet for where the wire runs through the firewall! The kit include instructions that even I could easily understand, with lots of diagrams and a very comprehensive step by step write up on how to do it, along with several templates for cutting holes.
Overall, I am very happy with it, even though the price is a bit steep, $55 total, it was worth it!
If you have it, I'd say, go for it! The spotlight is probably the neatest thing I've added to this truck so far.
Here's a few pictures as promised:
Here it is up close, if you put one on, be sure to put some sealant around the heads of the screws
I like to aim it down and out of harm's way when not in use.
This thing is extremely bright! The range of it impressive too, I can light up the top of any of the tree's around the neighborhood bright as day.
The light was sold to me as a roof mount light, but I'm pretty sure it was designed for post mount. It doesn't get in the way of the mirror, but it's very close! I might have to have it shortened sometime in the future.
That rain does wonders, it almost looks like it has a nice paint job on it!
