I am camping and wheeling this weekend, largely in part to its gonna be one of my few free weekends, and also because its really nice out, and I love to camp.
A few of you have spoke up and said you would join in, and so I wanted to put up for discussion, when, where, and duration.
Del and I are talking that depending on how organized we can get between now and then, going out friday, camping, wheeling on Sat, a full day, then camping Sat, then sleeping in, resting, and slowly pack things up, ready to head home (lazy day) on Sunday
Gonna be kicking it in high gear this week in the garage to see if I can't get it done for Saturday. Jamie wants to do the Fort Riley yard sales in the morning so we would probably be out there by 11 or so. I don't think we will camp for this GTG though, but I plan on it for the next one in a couple weeks.
We still on for this weekend? I'm planning on taking the camper out this evening. I may take off early from work to get a few things organized before heading out later this afternoon.
I fired up POJ last night and gave it a quick once over to see if she is up for some wheeling on Saturday. While I was working on it my neighbor came over and asked if I was taking it out this weekend. He may want to tag along with his yota pickup. We'll have to go easy on him because it is newer and hasn't be "customized" by the trails.
Yep, I am packing things now, I may have a chance to pack early, (hope so) so I should be out there in a reasonable time.
I invited Tracy Doctor (little stock explorer that wheeled with us once before) out to wheel with us, he said he had been itching to, and said it sounded like fun, so maybe? he will show up tomorrow, sounds like afternoon.
Sure Del, we can take it easy on him, perhaps he can ride with one of us on some more difficult things, if he wants. (might be best to start him out that way to begin with to have him understand the full extent of what's involved.)
Do you wish to camp on the west side of the bridge, or the east? I like the running water bathroom, and the view is nice from the east camp site, but it doesn't matter at all, I have running water bathroom in my trailer as well if need be.
East side is fine with me. I like the view up there too. It isn't that much farther to run back and forth if needed from ORV.
Do we want to try to coordinate supper on Saturday evening? It should just be me as I would imagine the neighbor will not hang all day. He also will have a friend along.
I plan on bringing fry bread makins for Sat. and Sun. morning unless someone wants to do something else.
Anyone gonna have an open seat in the afternoon? Jamie and I are thinking about coming to Manhattan in the afternoon and doing the chili crawl in Aggieville in the evening.
As for the Heap.......well.......last I saw it was ablaze while rolling down a hill. Stupid thing......
I will give it one more try tonight to fix it but otherwise we will just be riding along if there are open seats.
I will bring fire wood, but probably not cook over it, I will likely just use a little propane grill.
I have instant mashed taters, mac and cheese, and am planning on cooking some seasoned chicken breasts I should be ample food, or we can do pot luck if you wish. I figure tonight will be brats and hot dogs on the grill, since they are quick and the girls like them. we will have pleanty of that as well, I don't eat many hot dogs, and can't eat all the brats, so if you can help me eat them, that would be great!
We just are bringing cereal for breakfast on Sat/sunday so fry bread would be awesome!
for lunch we have ham/turkey deli meat, and tuna, don't know which one will be saturday's meal and which will be sunday's meal
Julie doesn't want me bringing home a bunch of food so I expect you guys to help me eat it.
Okay, I'll let you furnish that food. I'll bring some baked bean makings along and stuff for smores. Also, may pick up some snacks and fruit for trail food.
