1981 351w Stock
So I had a new Ford long block installed in my Quadravan. Drove it twice and it ran like new. Today it refused to start. Every once in awhile today it would try to start alittle when you released the key from cranking. Any ideas? It is completely stock. New Distributor.

I say that because. If it want to start when you let off the switch The switch may be bad. My 86 F250 4x4 has gone trough 3 switches in its life. The last one started doing kind of what yours is doing but it would start. The switch is located on the pickups & I assuming the same on the vans on the steering column right side under dash. The easiest is to remove the cover & remove the four bolts & let the column down I believe the two screws that hold the switch are 1/4" heads. Mine once I got the first bolt out the switch fell apart in my hand.
You may have something else wrong. Do you have spark & gas?

Yes I have spark and gas It wouldn't surprise me if the gin switch is bad. I am also wondering if it is a timing issue. either way I am going to replace the gin switch thanks for the info bro. if it is timing do you know if it needs to be advanced or retarded if it won't start?
