I hope someone can help. I have a 2006 f-250 diesel 6.0 that I love. I had virtually no problems for five years. Now the turbo has gone out and the fuel sensor. Both have been change. I was told the turbo was rebuilt. Right after having the turbo fixed my wife and I started a long trip to Maine for the Fall colors. We did not get far. The problem is as follows.
Pulling a 12,500 pound fifth wheel we started up a long small incline the rpm and turbo increased as normal. RPM 26-2700, the turbo spooled up to 28-29 psi. 20-30 seconds later the turbo dropped to 15-16 psi as the rpm stayed constant. 20-30 seconds after that both the rpm and turbo drop together 200-300 rpm and then right back to the original 26-2700 rpm and 29 psi. Then the cycle starts all over. It will do the until the climb is finished. It only does this now in towing and only up hill.
My local Ford dealer hooked up their computer and found no code so, we took the trailer for a ride with their equipment connected. They felt it, they recorded it and sent it to Ford. No one can find the problem and I fear everyone is starting to give up, telling me "It must be normal because the PCM is telling the turbo to do that." The dealer has checked for bad wires, exhaust leaks, etc. No luck.
Is it possible the new turbo needs to be programed to the PCM or a faulty sensor. This all started after the turbo change. I'm told just trade it in. I can't do that. I have taken good care of this truck and kept up with all the service on Fords time table. Any and all help is appreciated.
