I started my truck this morning to go to work and noticed my display for my switcher is off but the truck run fine. It fills like it's stuck in the stock mode. Tried to switch tunes while driving and nothing happens. What is going on? Diane where are you?
I would start by pulling the chip and checking the contacts on the PCM. They may have gotten corroded if you took too much of the 'tinning' off the boards contacts while cleaning or there could be a little residue still on the contacts. I have seen Jody clean the contacts with a little brass brush that looked like a gun cleaning brush in the form of a toothbrush.

Think I found the problem,I shook the main wire harness from the chip that goes onto the PCM and the display came on.
Thats curious... Isn't the wire looped, then taped? and the wire pinned by plastic holder? so pulling it wouldn't 'wiggle' chip? Are you sure switcher-end is plugged all the way in?
My switcher has been acting up - it goes to blinking dots and feels like stock tune, then will display a # if I squeeze it or wiggle it (the switcher). It started some time ago, but only did it rarely - now its daily... I've been meaning to call - I need new tunes anyway, maybe its just time for an F6!!

Chris, We had our towns fall festival today and our kids were on our churches float so I have been offline most of the day. Next time email me. I get emails directly to my phone.
I hope you did not have the keys in the ignition. If so you were very lucky this time. Wiggling the PCM harness could move the chip and if you do that in the slightest with the keys in the ignition it could have caused a power to ground situation and take out the chip or PCM.
Ok I'm done grilling you. Now for a diagnosis. There could be a short in the switch cable, I'll send you another one to rule it out.
Diane

The ex and gauge switcher for f6 and f5 use the same cable. We only upgrade the chip. We will send a new cable along with the f6 to make sure.
