Question Overheating, Yes/No?

I had a problem(?) last week or I think I had a problem. I have a 1987 F250 non-turbo with an automatic tranmission and 410 rear end. I made a run from Ga to Ohio and when I was climbing the mountains thru Va and the Carolinas the temp gage would go from 190/195 which seems to be the running temp right now to 200 and at one point to 215 at which point I topped the mountain and started down the back side and the temp dropped back to 190. I was hauling a little over 2000lbs heading north and a little over 1300 lbs heading back south. I checked and there wasn't any leaks anywhere. This was the first time the temp was this high going to Ohio and I"m not sure if I have a problem or the weather was the reason for the high temp. The ambient temp was around the middle 90's at the time I was driving. Also I have an after market temp gage, not the factory gage. Radiator was replaced a year ago.

I am doing the same thing thru Mexico right now and am running the same temps as you. You sound good to me.

Thanks. I have made the same trip in cooler weather and the engine temps were much lower as from 180 to 190 for the high temp. Of course the outside temps were much lower also. When the engine temp hit 215 I started wondering if I was to high but as I went over the top and started back down the other side, the temp went back down. Still I was concerned.
