Another bump in the road
... Sure enough I had notice some outside tire wear...caused by ....my pivot bushing and corresponding frame mounts for each bushing. Both frame hanger mounts under the engine were broken in atleast three places
. So, up on jack stands again
. Pull tires, brake calipers, hangers, front hubs, spindles, tie rod ends, and finally the front axle housings. After dragging both sections out from under the truck. I pulled the pumpkin
, popped off the retainer clip out comes the short yoke axle. Back under the truck for the next three hours....aghhh trying to monkey out the four nut/bolt fastners holding whats left of the pivot mount frames from under the engine oil pan...another one of Ford's
idea's. Another three hours cleaning up wheel bearings, spindles, and housings...
Today, another two hours of phone calls for seals and such...finally of much resignation....I called my local Ford parts connection ...of course they only have one seal. I have to order the pivot bushing, differential inner seals, outter axle seals, and the cute little frame housing for the pivot bushing mounts
. I spent this afternoon wire brushing all the housings and other misc... parts for new paint. Oh well, another week without wheels
. That '99 F-350 4x4 in Athens is looking better all the time.
