I thought the Zeon's were more of a hwy/lower profile type of tire? Will check them out.

depends what zeon your looking at. they have a H/T which is a highway tire. but the zeon LTZ is alittle more agressive A/T which i had on my old excursion. they were a great all around tire, i cant comment on wear but they had traction everywhere.

also they make them in all normal sizes also. i plan to get a set for my new excursion but in 265/75 16

There seems to be a VERY small amount of rubbing at full turn on some uneven surfaces. When it's flat ground, they don't rub at all.

I've got the rotors & pads in house ready for a Sat. am install. Just waiting on the Ranchos to get here now. Riffraff has been taking good care of me

I'm leaning towards the Cooper's right now, but also just noticed they don't offer the 285 in load e. I was thinking about upping the tire size, as I would like the do the spring swap later on. That said, i may just get 265's now, and go for a tire & wheel swap when i do the springs as I like the looks of 18" wheels. So many choices, so little $$

Well I hope I did good. I just put on 4 Toyo Open Country A/T's in the stock size LT265/75R-16 10 ply. I trashed the rear Firestone Transforce H/T's last summer when I got stuck at the river bar in loose sand and sharp rocks. It took a lot of chunks of rubber off the tires. I did manage to get out of the hole by lowering the rear tire PSI. The Firestones were good tires, but I wanted something That would bite a little better, and still work on the highway. Going hunting tomorrow, and there's lots of rocks to go over. With Only having 2WD, I think this will work ok. If I keep them rotated every other oil change, matbe I'll get 50,000 miles out of them as advertised. So far they feel great, and look way cool.

That is a GREAT tire IMHO. I know a couple PSD's who've run them and 50k was no problem.

I've got the Nitto terra grapplers on two of my trucks. They have great life 50k+ miles, great handling, good wet traction, and great looks and tread pattern. They ride smooth, and have little-no road noise.

I bought my 325/60/18 grapplers used and have put another 30k miles on them - easily 60k miles total on these things. I agree, great traction (for a WIDE tire!!!) and not noisy at all. I am **** about tire pressure and rotations, as well as keeping the front-end in good repair (ball joints, etc).

Definatly not these!

Mastercraft Course AT2: $798 OTD

Michelins would be the best. The coopers we have on the work trucks seem to be fairly nice as well.

First off let me say my youngest boy loves your F-350 dually faltbed. It is his dream truck.

We took the Big X hunting this weekend, and I can say I really like these tires so far. They were quite on the highway, handled well in the twisty road's in wet and dry conditions, and worked well in mild off roading. When I say off roading I'm just talking about going over the 3' berm from pavement to natural ground made up of dirt, grass, and loose rocks up in the 6000' elavation enviroment. No tire slippage at rock crawing speeds in loose dirt. I really felt confident in them. I wonder how they will do in the snow on paved roads. The ride was really nice. The tire psi is set at 45-55, and my Bilstiens are pretty new. The Firestone H/T'S were good tires also, but these are totally differant animals all together. They look awesome also.

I thought I had a done deal on a set of "1,000 mile" Mich LTX AS2 285's on craigslist, but the guy went mia on me. I was down to the Coopers or Toyo's, but then got a late entry today w/ the Firestone Destination AT's 285/75/16 out the door for $741.

That's tough to beat, and they seem to have good reviews. Any input before I go in tomorrow?

Also, any isssues mounting 285's on my stock '04 eddie bauer wheels? I maybe a 1/2" out of recommended wheel width - not sure.

Got the Powerslots, Hawks, and Rancho's installed this weekend. Turned out to be a 2 day affair (ave @ 2.5 hrs a wheel all said & done), but nothing too bad. Only 1 frozen caliper pin out of 8.

Note to self though - don't play car stereo during a two day job. i killed the batteries. Also reinforced adding new batteries to the list before winter. Brakes & shocks feel great though!

i mounted 285's on my stock lariat rims with no issues. i ended up with some hankook M/Ts for a little over $700 after taxes. as for the battery, i like my die hard platinum's.... i left the ACC on and my lights on in my F250 when we went riding one day, we had the doors open listening to the tunes as we unloaded the bikes..... last guy said he was good to go, i shut the drivers door, wife shut the passenger door and off we went for about a 9 hour ride in the woods....... come back and saw the lights on. the guys we ride with said they thought they were auto shut off......OOPS, turned the key on and fired the ol V10er right up!!

Thanks for all your input/advice. We left on Wed & got back on Sun. from a 1,850 mile round trip from MA to OH. The new 285/75/16 E Firestone Destination AT's were great. I did not notice any additional road noise over the previous BFG Rugged Trails, yet they have a more aggressive tread. I personally think the bigger tires def. look better. Perfect weather, so have not yet had them in the rain, but the tires are great on the hwy & around town. Very happy w/ the front Powerslot Cryo's, Hawks LTS all round, and the Rancho 9000's as well. The X was riding really well - def. one of the best road trip vehicle ever!

As per SkySkyJason's request, here are some pics w/ the new shoes - mostly from W.VA area:

go for the Michelin LTX MS2: $1,024 OTD. I have these & they are GREAT. Smooth ride. Very nice! Don't run 80 lbs of air. Michlin advised me to run 50. I run about 55. These are E rated tires also.
