The 6637 Riffraff Diesel: RDP 6637 Filter Kit will increase the turbo whistle from the intake side. A 4" Riffraff Diesel: Aluminized Single Exhaust straight pipe will allow some turbo whistle to be heard from the exhaust. It won't be as much as the 6.0, but you will hear some. In my case, a muffler hides all the exhaust turbo whistle. There is a guy that handles the above mentioned products at a very reasonable price, and he really knows the 7.3's!

The low end knock at the RPMs you describe sounds like the classic #8 injector knock. If so, you can go a very along way towards quieting it down by doing the mods that eliminate air in the fuel lines and imporve fuel delivery to #8. Specifically I'm referring to the Hutch and Harpoon in-tank mods, some sort of regulated return (search "CCK" for a good, poor man's version) and a Fuel Pressure increase mod (search FPR for a very cost effective method).

Yup... very typical. In-tank mods and a regulated fuel return will help you out a TON... plus, you get more low-end torque!

As for the "slight shudder" when taking off try regreasing the rear drive shaft splines. May or may not help but it's cheap and easy and most likely needs to be done anyway. LINK Check the splines for abnormal wear while you have it apart.

Good links in my sig for maintenance and mods.

Also check out the Riffraff FRx

I agree with make a list of need to do's, and want to do's. IMHO mantience, and safety items should be delt with first then modding the truck. I would start by giving your truck a good inspection and crawl undernenth, and while under your truck look for any leaks or if anything feels loose I.e u-joints, pinion bearing in rear axle. Become familiar with your truck. Then decide if its worth keeping or not.

Thanks Mike, I think thats the info I was looking for or at least a direction to head in. I was guessing that fuel delivery may be an issue, since after spooling her up-n-romping on 'er, she seems to lag on fuel when you take the pedal out of it. If that makes any sense to you guys.

I have been underneath quite a bit and most look fine, rearend is tight no leaks, u joints seem ok don't clunk when engaged, under side of motor is a bit greasy with very small amount of oil from trans weep, noted last time underneath small coolant leak on water pump inlet elbow- think its just a bad gasket since it is coming from the lower mounting bolt. I'll just keep on keepin' on, and ask q's and knock these things out one at a time. I'll get there, with your help. Any other direction in what to look for in diagnosing and repairing engine knock and shudder would be great.

To the OP...

If it's a slight shudder, it can be normal. Supposedly, a slight shudder under heavy acceleration (usually only in 1st for me) is normal... TransGo makes a shift kit that will supposedly cure that. I think I have bigger problems with my trans so I probably will end up getting more into my trans than I really want to...

The shutter could be a number of things...The UVCH may have worked it self loose, fix with a .50 mod. It could be your TPS is worn out aswell, and you said if IIRC you had just under 200k or in that nieghborhood? It could be time to start thinking about new sticks. Check your ICP sensor for oil, and the EBPV and tube for crack and soot bluid up.
