It looks like I'm in for head gaskets this weekend. She always smoked a little but today she turned into an adict!! I'm just going to order a complete felpro gasket set. I have duals all the way back and just smoking from the driver side. I'll do both sides because I'm already that close. Pluss it's the chance to pull my manifolds and do my headers. I can't get the manifold bolts loose so I couldn't get them out when I tried. I'll get them no prob with the heads off.
So back to the point... How much tq should I put on the head bolts on reasembly?? Also... What else should I be looking for or do while I'm in there??
look for a bad intake manifold gasket around the heat riser port. Do a compression test you may end up doing a valve job too. You need a manual on this truck and motor so when you get stumped ans so on..my 2cents

Also a leaking intake manifold most of the time but not always the port runner nearest a leak will suck oil into the cyl. fouling the plug with good compression cause the oil seals the rings that may raise it above all the other cylinders. So check for this to, Look for bubbles in coolant as the motor idles. my 2cents
