he y guys, does anyone know what clour combo the aussie v8's were, i have what appears to b a light grey on the block/bellhousing and silver on the heads, but the rust marking is heavy so may have changed the appearance, any thoughts or pics?, i have searched for any articles on line for other restored trucks down here but none showed up.
thx
Wow, that's a good question. Especially since the documentation is so conflicting on the US and Canadian engines! 52 US 239s both Ford and Merc were Tangerine or most probably Green.
I've heard - going from memory here - later Canadian engines (which were shipped to AU and NZ also) were painted ivory - which could look like light gray from staining over the years.
ivory does sound very close, u would'nt have a source that would allow me to check the colour of the heads and acc's ? i did actually think it was off white till i saw the bellhousing cleaned, it's got a light grey on a good portion of it, with a very dark grey splashed over it and the gearbox aswell.
any OLD canucks frequent this chat site who use to work for ford?

Also, Yahoo groups has one called flatheadfordv8 Bill Boogaart is the admin. Bill is in Canada and might have the info. If you have trouble connecting with any of these, email me at mtflat @ hotmail dot com
If I had to guess I'd say Ford kept to the same color scheme they used with all the other flatheads. Block, intake, heads, oil pan and trans all the same color. Bolt on accessories in black..... but that's just a guess - I've never seen one in factory detail.
