Hello. I currently have a 1989 XL Extended and am enjoying driving it every day, but it is on it's latter legs. I am at 199165 and the engine is starting to show it. My wife wants us to get another one with fewer miles, prefferably an Eddie Bauer package this time. Does anyone know what that package includes as "Standard" and what is available as "Optional"? Is there a web site out there with this info? We would most likely get another 1989 or up to the 1991-2. Whichever year is the last one WITHOUT air bags. I had a nasty experience with one of those when I combined my 1991 Taurus with a deer at 50mph. Earned 6 bruised ribs, burns on both arms, and totaled the car since the airbag was 60% of the repair price.
Thank you for any help you can offer.

(wish my big Bronco was running. Dang I miss that truck.)
The 1991 model year was the last to be air bag free. The EB editions up to those years came pretty much fully optioned. I belive about the only options the EB version offered were a few of the more exotic ones: the fold out picnic table, captain chairs vs conventional bench seats or the convertible sleeper bed.
The 4.0 engine and associated beefier transmission is generally more trouble free than the 3.0 version. The 4.0 engine will easily go to 200,000+ miles with just routine maintenance.
Some of the car sites such as cars.com, epinions.com, etc. often have research sections than provide some detail as to options available for certain models and years.
I currently drive a 1989 Eddie Bauer and the thing is loaded. It has digital dash, trip computers, super sound system, quad captain chairs with the little trees on them, etc. The only options that I did not purchase was the trailer tow package and the limited slip differential (although I always regret it when winter hits). 1990 introduced the AWD and 4.0 litre as options. I'm not exactly sure when leather became the standard trim, I think 1991-1992.
Thank you both for your replies. We will be moving foreword on getting one with all the options it looks like. I will post if it ends up being the 3.0 or the 4.0 and which options it has.
Thanks again.
