I have a 71' f100 4x4 with a 360 mated to a np435/dana21 .I am wanting to put a 460 mated to a c-6/np205 . Do I need to change anything as far as cross members . Can I just bolt this in? I am ordering perches and mounts and headers from L&L so no prob with engine but I need to know if trans/t-case will fit right in? All help is much welcomed. Thanks
Just a thought, but have you considered on how you are going to shift the auto tranny? On the floor or the column? I don't know about the cross member. Ask L&L I bet they would know. I will probably get in trouble for doing this but if you need an automatic steering column I have one and would be very interested in buying your 4spd column. Good luck.
Thanks ....I will call them and ask. I have had a few people tell me that there is nothing to it. Thanks for the offer but I have access to an auto column and my manual is going in my sons truck. Thanks for the info.
I think it would be easier to put the body on the 79 frame, The frame on the 71 is narrower than the 79. It would take a lot of fabricating to put all the pieces on the 71 frame.
To be effective with 44" tires you will need at least 300hp out of your engine and low gears like 5:13 or lower.
I run in competition mudbogs and run the 44" tire class, with my 40" tires. I am very competative in that class because most people buy great big tires and just dont have the poop to turn them. They look cool but if you cant spin them .......you will just look silly.
