Well guys,, i know i asked a thousand questions about exhaust but its finally ordered. I took everyone's advice and got the 4".. not cat/ no muffler. My stock exhaust was measuring around 3.25" at the tip but underneath in several places (like where i took the muffler out) in a few bends, etc was only 2.5". I thought i got a pretty good price on it.. 259.98 to my door. I sure hope it sounds good, and its suppose to be here in two days,, so bet yall can't guess what i'll be doing this saturday..lol... yippeeeee..
naw,, even now,, i have no cat, no muffler but because my stock exhaust has been cut up and added on to, etc.. i have one place at a bend is only a tad bigger then 2.5 inches so i'm hoping the 4" all the way thru will make a difference. I ran the stock with a gutted cat for a while but didnt really love the way it sounded so I just installed a straight piece of pipe and welded the cat around it for looks,, which is what i'll do to the mbrp,, the cat will be around it like a ring on a finger but thats all..lol This has worked for me too,, last inspection the guy questioned the noise and looked under,, saw the cat and said, "well, its under there".. got the sticker and came home. i hope i'll like the new exhaust, i wanted the 5" but i asked this site,, so i listened. I do believe the 4" now will be better.. thanks to all..
keep us posted ..I heard they have a kit that lets you bolt the cat in when needed , but I like your plan better ,,, why was the sound funny with just a open cat?
not really sure,, i've asked a lot of questions,, and i think somewhere i read that a gutted cat sounded (by some) like the air was swirling around,, so i ended that with a straight pipe. I cant wait,, saturday morning the saw-sall will be crying..lol
congrats!! You will love it! I got the 4 inch and with no cat. Runs great and sounds great!!!!
I put mine on at 15000 miles and now have 80000 miles on mine. Still sounds great and runs great! Def a great exhaust system for a 6.0.
I just cut my stock out and installed this system. I just had to push back the firewall some so the exhaust would fit. Be sure to follow the directions. Not too bad of a job! Good Luck
well to be totally honest..............take your hammer and be gentle. Your going to have to move that firewall if you got the 4 inch. It will make a racket everytime you turn moving that pipe against the firewall. Just install it without doing anything to the firewall. It you hear a new loud noise coming from the floorboard area then thats whats happening. You may have to push in the firewall a little. It wont hurt anything and nobody will be able to tell unless you go under the truck. Im pretty particular about my trucks and I tapped it with the hammer when the truck was new. Its no big deal on my opinion. Others on here with more experience may have a better idea but thats what I did and its been totally quiet since I did that
Between the motor, turbo, and exhaust (straight-pipe), i'm not sure there is anything on the road that sounds any better! Nothing like a straight pipe 6.0l in my opinion.
Then add a nice stack with the back window open and some custom tunes, and you just might be driving with a ******** all day!
Haha, just kidding, i know that's not everyones deal...
