Hey all.
I haven't sat in one yet, but I had a friend tell me that they think the KR seats are uncomfortable and that I should go with a Lariat. Maybe I should find a KR (none at any of the dealers around me) and sit in it.
Any comments on this? And why would the seats be any different, is different leather used or are they thicker or something?
the leather is unique in both color and quality... but VERY comfortable. I'm not sure what your friend is smoking, but he'd better share
seriously though... the King Ranch is a Lariat truck. it just has some upgrades. It is just as comfortable, if not moreso. I drove both, but the King Ranch won out for me.
I like the KR for the exterior color matching bumper/grill and the interior is unique. As long as the majority here say the seats are comfortable that's good enough for me!
My friend wasn't smoking lol, but this wife does tend to taint his opinion more than most. I'm almost sure she probably complained about something small and it turned into something large. Who knows....
Try one out for yourself. They say beauty is in the eye of the beholder and it's safe to say seat comfort is determined by one's own derierre (sp?). You'll know right away if that legendary King Ranch leather is for real or if it's just urban legend. Personally, I tried it but didn't think my rear end was worth the upgrade. Lariat two tone for me.
Just Order the Lariat with all the options, like I did. The only difference minus the grill and the seats is about 3,000. Not worth it either. thats why I went that route.
I always carry a huge KING RANCH hunting knife, in my truck, that matches my KR BUCK pen knife.
And, as most know, King Ranch is a dynamic ICON, much like the Harley Davidson FORD vehicles and models, and even MOTOR CYCLES.
So if ordinary is your thing, LARIAT is your vehicle. If King Ranch is your... enough said tonight! Hell, you can GOOGLE King Ranch and even get a saddle. But it will cost you more than ORDINARY.
I see Lariat as the best, the KR for those trying to make up for "shortcomings".
I have a Lariat ultimate, chromed out and the fender flares. I think mine looks better than the KR. I have also seen where others don't like the KR leather. It might be if your butt is big enough or you're used to riding horses or Hogs you'll like it, but if not you (and the Wife as mine did) will prefer the softer feel on the Lariat.
Hmmm. Hogs? Horses? And your wife, the softer feel of the Lariat! HMMM. Most I can say, cannot be said here. So, to save my reply from being removed, I will just say, HMMM, and let others, mano -- mano type to talk about luxury. I'll bet your wife does not know that LEXUS does not offer a King Ranch package. And I really will not say more.

Woah, Fellas, we are talking trucks here, all ford by the way...................
The comfort level should be the same or similar. KR's just have a different leather cover on the seats. It is called chaparral leather and is very similar to the leather in the lariats. The Castano leather was the older style that was like a saddle and if they weren't treated on a regular basis they looked like crap. IMHO the Castano leather was beautiful and the newer chaparral leather is, meh. I love my truck though and would not trade it for anything.
To my eyes the KR is like those guys pimping out their H2 or those Rolls Royce kits they make for the Magnums. I don't care for the painted bumpers and I definitely don't like the interior color or the stiffness of the leather. The lariat may be more common, but I far prefer it.
