Landyot Radius Rods?

I was wondering how many of you ex owners have installed these & if they really
help as much as claimed? Thanks for your input.

Well, I never installed them on either of my Excursions but I have driven one that has them. Very impressive results. However, not anyone can install them.

I did have RAS on my 05 and it is easier to install and gave very, very good results in control, load carrying and the minor lift I was looking for. I would highly recommend RAS.

Radius Rods are a fantastic product and Ken has done a great job with them. The "weakness" is that it needs to be welded on and the snubber spring has to be cut-off and it only addresses one problem: rear wheel steer.

RAS address the same issue but can be bolted on plus aids in load carrying plus improves suspension compliance.

Monsta,

I've had both now (Radius rods on 2003 stock springs, RAS on 2005 "B" code rear springs). I agree that the RAS is much easier to install and does increase rear spring compliance some. In my opinion, though, the radius rods are a much more effective at controlling 'wander' due to rear axle steer. The RAS help, but don't give as positive of steering feedback as the radius rods.

I am so convinced that I'm going to remove the RAS from my 05 and put on radius rods. The rods are waiting in a box in my shop.

Yes. Radius rods are much harder to install. You have to know or be a good welder to make it work. I'm not a welder but know a good one.

I will report back once I get the radius rods on the 05. Maybe 3 - 4 weeks 'till I get to it.

Curt, by the way...my 2003 radius rods were installed at 8,000 miles and I sold the truck with them on at 180,000 miles. Not a bad track record.

As mentioned above, the 05 is about to get the same treatment. I don't have to remove snubber spring because I have already removed "G" code Excursion springs and installed "B" code F250 rear springs...

Sorry I think I might have asked this twice but would you like to sell the ras if you still have them?
Thanks

I installed the LRR on my X and they did wanders to improve the overall handling of the X. With the OEM steering gear and suspension, X's are a handful when loaded. If you are not proficient with a welder and mechanically inclined, have the LRR installed.

I also installed the Firestone Air Bags on the rear axle. Recently made a 500 mile round trip pulling 12,000 lbs. and it was a piece of cake.

Hmm, I thought he stopped making his radius rods a while back ?

Good news if he's back to making them as I have heard NOTHING but excellent results..

and when people buy them used - that means they are a good product !

The thread at supermotors or whatever says he isn't making them anymore. Sucks cause I really would like to get a set.

I have some 70's fords too and these seem to do a similar job and I think I could probably make them work on the excursion too: Superlift Traction Bar Kit Rods and Brackets

I dunno.. mine definitely suffers from rear steer over bumps.

Do you guys have a link to his stuff or pics of the radius rods? I talked to a guy at a local custom shot that builds rock crawlers and he said he could make it if he knew the specs. I am new here and just got an '05 limited 6.0 that is all stock and is having alot of problems with suspension. RedEX has taken me under his wing and walking through the problems. Put on a new steering box and sould have my 30mm sway bar, v code, b code, and new shocks all in hand next week and ready to change it all out. I am interested in these radius rods and since he is not making them anymore, maybe this guy would be interested in picking up the slack since he has a fab shop. Let me know
