I've heard on here that putting 1.7 rockers on a 5.0 give a decent power boost. I'm wondering how hard they are to change? Is it a simple take off the valve covers then the rockers and put the new ones on and then put the valve covers back on?
I've seen they are only a couple hundred dollars, so it would be worth it if I can do them myself. In the past I changed a intake manifold on my 4.6 Mustang and I also put bigger brakes on it and had to pull out the axle shafts to switch out the brackets on the end of the axle housing, then new calipers, rotors, etc. Anyway could I be able to do this by myself without messing it up?
I did this job in the spring, wasn't too terrible if you have basic hand tools and a torque wrench. Taking the upper intake off was about the hardest part of the job. here is a post and some tips I got when I did the job. You may need to modify the baffles on the valve covers to clear the rockers. I would think you should be able to do the job with the experience you already have. I am by no means a mechanic, and the main reason the job was hard for me is because my truck is tall and i am short.https://www.ford-trucks.com/forums/9...-my-5-0-a.html
