Ok i have a 87 ranger 4x4 with the 2.9 v6 the original engine gave out and i found one from a 89 ranger. i installed the engine and switch over all the necessary items only thing that was different was the injector harness no big deal i switched it from mine to the 89 engine the only thing i noticed was my 87 had a egr system and the 89 engine did not.
so i fired up the truck set the timing but for some odd reason the truck runs extremely rough at idle soon as you rev on it it smooths out. I have double checked timing,vacuum lines,and fuel delivery, all check out fine, now when i took out the blown engine i cut the old exhaust system off because it was totally rotten, so im running it with an open y pipe.
this has gotten me totally stumped and winter is around the corner does anybody have any suggestions?
