Has any one had this problem?I have a F250HD 351 1997 I have changed air filter, fuel filter, dist.cap&rotor, plugs and the engine pings when you get on it right at the shift points and then stops and also on hills. This truck only has 42,000 miles on it.Throttle body and injectors were also cleaned. Not sure if this year truck has a knock sensor have not seen one in any book so far.Ihave tried all grades of fuel so far no difference.
You say that you changed the plug wires, correct? If so, then check and make sure that you have the ROUTED correctly. I don't mean that they are on the right plugs, I mean that if the wires are routed right next to each other, you can get into crossfire. There was a problem with these on occasion, and it will sound just like pinging. Check this. Hope it helps.
My 93 F150 will ping even on the flat. I use Shell bronze gas. Maybe it is time to try a different brand. I had the truck in for a rear main/pan gasket re and re and ever since it has pinged. any suggestions?
