OK, I just bought this truck a few months ago & I've been searing for detailed info on it since. According to the door sticker, it has an E4OD tranney (code "E"), a 3.08 gear (code 18), and I decoded the VIN. What I'm looking for is more detail.
Which E4OD model?
Lockers? Limited slip? etc...
I'm wanting to do some upgrades to it, but not sure where to begin to get the best bang for the buck. I mainly drive it to & from work (1 mi each way) and around town. Haven't done any off-roading yet, but winter is comming & I don't want any problems. Any input would be appreciated.
put the back end on jackstands and chalk the front. start the truck and put it in drive, if one wheel is spinning and the other is just turning in the opposite direction you have a open dif.

There are no factory lockers and a factory LS would be axle code H8.

If it has a 5.0 your best upgrade will be 3.73-4.10 gears.. Ford should be slapped up side thier corporate heads for delivering 5.0 trucks with anything less than this.
