A 'what would you do" tire question
Quick backstory:
A couple months ago I bought a '96 F350 PSD CC DRW 2wd for a good price, as it was a repo.
I've liked the truck just fine, but I haven't used it much because the tires on it are a horror story. There are 4 different brands, and 4 different sizes including a pair of 265/70/16 on the right rear that are butted up against each other.
Today the right front started to separate while I was on a short trip to the gas station, so I HAVE to do something about some tires.
As you all know, a full set of 6 is some money...I have the funds to do that if necessary(it would take money from another need), but I was offered a deal by believe it or not, a "box" store in the area:
A set of 6 new "deleted" 225/75/16 LT tires(name brand)..$90 each if I take all six because they have 6 left and want to get rid of them.
I know the truck is supposed to have 215/80/16s on it, D-rated, and these "might" be C-rated.
The consideration is that I drive maybe 500 miles per month, and rarely tow anything. Not saying I won't, but it's not a vehicle used for more than driving and very light hauling at this time.
So, worth it to take the $70 price decrease per tire to possibly get slightly "less" tire, or hold out till the extra $$$ comes around?
