Farm You won,t be disappointed with the synth. in the winter it is like night and day when it comes to starting I ran 0/40 for a couple winters but last winter I decided on 10/30 It is a little better in the cold but not nearly as good as synth. with 10/30 i was finding myself plugging in synth. I never plugged in, This year I am going synthetic again .
Madvan runs synth in the summer he can give you some good info on synth. oil

I'm also curious to see how the Rotella does in my engine as well. I've never ran it.

Yeah cost, I ended up with some free 0/40 when my work moved to our new shop someone left a brand new 5g pails of 0/40 so I used it, last year around this time I spent a pile of money on trade school and went with 10/30 I will be using synthetic this winter.

This summer I went to synthetic in everything, axles, tranny, transfer case and engine.
Gained about 1.5 to 2 MPG on my averages.
I keep very accurate records on my trucks on fuel, tires, filters, service schedules and repairs.
4916.1 miles on Rotella 5W-40, not a quart low yet as of my fuel fillup this evening.

I run Rotella 10W-30 during the winter months and it seemed to help obviously compared to the 15W-40. Have been considering using the new blend Rotella T5 10W-40 year round, or 5W-40 full synthetic. Just not sure if it'll uncover any leaks... Anyone running Rotella T5 Synthetic/dino blend?
