Rust Proofing

Hi, this is my first time posting to this site. Just found it. It looks good.

I have an 08 Ranger 4x4 with about 26K miles on her. I'd like to rust proof it and I'm thinking about Ziebart and I'm wondering if anyone has used them and how did things hold up.

I've read about rust converters and Rust Encapsulator like the Eastwood products but I'm not so sure I could do a better job than a place like Ziebart.

Welcome to FTE.

Sorry but I don't know anything about Ziebart. Hopefully one of the guys will jump in here soon and help you out.

It is already 2 years old and rust has started because you are in the rust belt.

You can only slow it down, and Ziebart is a lot less effective when it is applied to a car NOT fresh off the assembly line.

My advice:

Annual oil spray before salt season.

Post winter, pressure wash entire vehicle, including inside rocker panels, repair all damaged paint (stone chip, etc.)

If you really want to do better --- you are into esoteric stuff like I do --- e.g. cold galvanization, zinc rich marine coatings, etc.

Gearloose1, that sounds good. How do you do the oil spray and what zinc rich marine coating would you recommend?
