Hello All,
I have a 01 S'crew that is black with 35,200 miles. The paint has just developed cracks nearly 1/4" long by the thousands. I've taken it to the dealer and they are actually going to repaint the entire truck! They will have the truck for about 4 weeks. The one thing that has me tee'd off is that they won't provide a rental for the four weeks because it's not a motor problem. I'm planning on getting a F350 when the work is complete but I'm very hesitant to go with black again. Has any one had this problem before with black?
Thanks
It's not just the black. I have an'01 screw with the dark blue paint that is doing the same thing. Little cracks all over the hood. Do you know if there has been a recall on this problem?
I haven't heard of a recall for this problem. I know Ford is aware of the problem because the factory rep authorized the work on the spot when dealer called. The reason it is going to take so long is because they are going to totally strip the truck. Everything! Glass, interior..sound nearly like an off the frame redo. I'm not real happy! I only have 800 miles left on the factory warranty and the work has to be done before it hits 36k or I'm screwed. So what I'm getting out of this from Ford is that the paint is only good for 3 years or 36k miles. My truck is only a little over a year and half old!!!!!! I'll be really ticked if I have to buy a Cheby or somethin' else.
I am having the same problem with my 2000 F-250 SC I have done research on the problem. I also am past the limited mile warranty. But what the heck does how many miles I drive got to do with the paint??

Moderator- I don't recall saying anything about a lawsuit. But curtw48 did you get your problem taken care of? Please e-mail Dateline and tell them your story. Dateline@nbc.com. They are intrested in doing a follow-up to the previous factory defect problem that all the Chrysler, Ford and GM automobiles had in early 90's. Go to lemonaidcars.com and it will give you a wealth of information..
